research
over the last two decades, brain gym® has positively impacted a broad variety of behaviours and skills, including: reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, attention, memory, fine-motor and postural skills – all of which have been measured and documented
on this page you will find links to references, informative sites, and pilot studies
through my own participation in a local study program for the elderly i can add my personal testimonial to the research provided here. this experience proved to me that brain gym® is effective regardless of age and ‘you are never too old to learn new tricks’
real people
real results
in 2016 i worked with my mentors to train 12 community leaders at the macarthur diversity services initiative (MDSI)in campbelltown and to provide ongoing assistance as they implemented brain gym® in their community groups of older people
the aim of the project was to:
- improve participation in leisure, social, cultural and spiritual activities
- maintain or improve mental fitness and memory
- develop or enhance cognitive skills
- improve physical abilities that promote confidence and self esteem
- improve overall quality of life
- increase participation and active social outcomes
after 8 months of regular practise the outcomes were presented by MDSI. notable improvements were recorded in a number of key areas. most participants reported improvements in:
eye tracking
balance
directional awareness
remaining still
focus and attention span
attitude
